I understand what you are saying about bigger house, life overwhelming, etc. And it is hard to recreate your sanctuary from home to home...it takes time. It's taken me years to shift from a perfect home environment in the States to a new home environment in Sweden - where decorating choices are so different (thus leading to more and more DIY).
