What's That ?! - Repurposed

This week's "What's That?!" is bursting with color, but exactly what are these art pieces made of?

A closer look and now its becoming...

...crystal clear. Clothespins!

Check out the folks at We Make Carpets (Dutch) temporary contemporary carpets  and enjoy their little bursts of creativity.

Until next time...

  4. I have been thinking lately: Why is it that we all try so hard to recycle, reuse, repurpose in an effort to save the environment but then we applaud an "artist" for buying out all of the plastic clothes pins at the dollar store to making a wall hanging? Isn't that down cycling? Wouldn't those clothes pins be better served by hanging clothes out? Unless of course, this artist went to the landfil and plucked each one lovingly from its fate as garbage? Just food for thought...

    1. Suzie - totally appreciate your comment. Let's assume that those clothespins are going on to many more lives after this exhibit. You know I'm all about recycling and repurposing, but there is also room for commercialism - I just want it to be at a better balance than what we have now. I like to share ideas like this in the event that it sparks inspiration for someone to try a creation for themselves - ideally using recycled or repurposed. I'm glad you're watching...and thinking!

I'm listening! And responding - so let's create some buzz together for recycled and repurposed arts and crafts.
